Broken Social Scene Return with New Single

After making promises a new album, Broken Social Scene have finally delivered the record’s first single.

“Halfway Home” is the first taste the yet-to-be-announced follow-up to 2010’s Forgiveness Rock Record, and it debuted on SiriusXM this afternoon (March 30). An ficial stream the single has yet to surface, but the band’s chat with radio host Jenny Eliscu can be heard right now in the player below.

In the clip, band member Kevin Drew speaks about the collective’s creative process, and assures fans that the band are still aiming for a summer release, stating: “We want to get it out there as soon as possible.”

That’s the new track’s artwork up above, and it’s already available to purchase over on some retail sites.

In related news, BSS are slated to perform on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tonight (March 30) at 11:35 p.m. EDT. They’ve confirmed appearances from Metric’s Emily Haines and James Shaw, as well as Stars’ Amy Millan and Evan Cranley. It’s unclear if they’ll be performing the new track, but we’ve got our fingers crossed.

As previously reported, Broken Social Scene are set to play Canadian shows at both Field Trip and Osheaga later this year.

Also, BSS regular Feist is returning with her new album Pleasure, which is due out on April 28 Universal.
