Joris Voorn is a frustrating artist to love. His intricate and emotively woven brand of electronic music has garnered him a level of respect seen in few other artists of the time (2014′s Nobody Knows LP was the ultimate testament to this), but there was been little outside of remix work to illustrate a spike in the Dutch producer’s studio output since. Returning to Green this month, The Story Until Now is not only a welcome break in silence, but evidence that Joris Voorn is still out to keep the underground purists and creatively starved club goers alike on their toes where his studio work is concerned.
‘Dawn (Green Mix)’ plays as a European homage to the heyday of North American dance music, blending his more intimate and melodic touch with the insatiable key stabs and 808 work of early house music. Paired with the more experimental and ascending energy of EP A-side ‘Looks Fake Obviously,’ Voorn appears more confident and collected in his original output than ever before.
