Zeds Dead Launch 'Journey Of A Lifetime' Tour at Deadrocks XII

Every summer, thousands of Zeds Dead fans make the pilgrimage to Morrison, Colorado, for one of electronic music’s most celebrated traditions. 12 years after its inception, Deadrocks has evolved into much more than two nights at Red Rocks Amphitheatre, becoming a multi-day takeover that brings fans together for an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend. The launch of the Journey Of A Lifetime tour marked a significant milestone in the duo’s career.

This year’s edition saw more than 30,000 tickets sold across four events over three days, including two sold-out nights at Red Rocks, the annual Backyard Jamboree, and the Mission Ballroom Hangover show. Deadrocks XII served as the debut for the duo’s most ambitious live production to date.

A New Era of Production

Built around their recently released album, Return to the Return (of the Spectrum of Intergalactic Happiness), the production introduced the duo’s new “Channel Flipping” concept. This visual experience weaves together vintage television broadcasts, classic films, surreal animation, and pop culture references. Rather than serving as a simple backdrop, the visuals act as an extension of the music, creating an immersive environment that shifts alongside the night’s genre-bending soundtrack.

Night One: Setting the Stage

Fans filled Red Rocks early on July 2 as MARAH kicked off the festivities. Following sets from RSUN and Neumonic, UK drum & bass standout SOTA transformed the amphitheater into a sea of movement. Mary Droppinz closed out direct support with a dynamic set that blended bass music, hip-hop, and house influences.

When Zeds Dead took the stage, the impact of the Journey Of A Lifetime production was immediate. The set balanced fresh material from their latest album with fan favorites, classic releases, and unexpected throwbacks, showcasing why the duo has remained a cornerstone of the scene for over 15 years.

Night Two: A Curated Experience

Night Two offered a distinct atmosphere while maintaining the same high-production standards. Support acts including LUMBERJVCK, Hydraulix, and Axel Boy kept the energy climbing. A standout moment arrived during the back-to-back performance from Baauer and Holly, which masterfully combined trap and experimental bass. Sippy also delivered a hard-hitting set before the headliners took over.

Zeds Dead closed the evening by digging deeper into their extensive catalog, ensuring minimal overlap with the previous night’s performance. The “Channel Flipping” visuals continued to evolve, pairing each musical shift with unpredictable imagery that rewarded attentive fans.

Denver Fourth of July Takeover

The celebration continued on July 4 with the annual Backyard Jamboree, featuring performances from Casey Club, HEYZ b2b Sippy, and Caspa b2b Distinct Motive. The weekend concluded with the Hangover show at Mission Ballroom, which featured an opening set from Papajay and a surprise b2b performance between Zeds Dead and Of The Trees.

Final Thoughts

With the Journey Of A Lifetime tour now moving across North America, Zeds Dead is bringing the creative vision introduced at Red Rocks to a wider audience. Deadrocks XII was more than just a celebration of a 15-year legacy; it was a glimpse into the next era of the duo’s career, defined by innovation and a refusal to adhere to genre constraints.
