Armin van Buuren has officially unleashed the Rising Star Remix of his collaboration with Dutch singer-songwriter Douwe Bob, “What If I Told You,” out now via Armada Music. Rising Star is the celebrated uplifting trance side-project and alias of Dutch trance DJ and producer Armin van Buuren.
While the original single delivered an infectious crossover blend of country and trance, Armin’s Rising Star remake gives the track an uplifting melody. The original track began with a late-night moment of inspiration for Dutch country singer Douwe Bob, who imagined Armin as the perfect collaborator. He is one of the Netherlands’ premier singer-songwriters, notably known for representing the Netherlands in the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and his hit roots-pop releases.
The duo recently performed the Rising Star Remix live at Amsterdam Music Festival in front of 40,000 fans.
The Rising Star Remix discards radio-friendly arrangements in favor of pure, peak-time trance. Armin elevates Douwe Bob’s soulful vocal performance by weaving it into dynamic synth rolling basslines and a build-up designed explicitly for mainstage moments.
A Year of Rising Star
This has turned out to be a massive year for Armin van Buuren’s alias, which has been dropping remixes almost immediately after new singles are released. This year, he has already released “Take Me Home,” “Sonic Samba,” and “Everlasting” (intro edit), giving each track an uplifting sound. It is an exciting time for fans as they anticipate a Rising Star Remix following the release of each new single.
