After a quiet closure to 2019, Whethan emerged into the new year with a string of collaborations, eclectic video content, and tour announcements. His latest single, “Upside Down,” follows the preceding tracks “All In My Head” featuring grandson and critically acclaimed “Stay Forever” featuring STRFKR.
Tapping alternative rock band Grouplove for the release, the feel-good track has all the inner-workings of a year-long anthem, featuring an energetic bassline and infectious vocals from the LA-based group. Listeners will also hear some signature Whethan leads mixed with guitar riffs for a primed alt-electro drop.
With humble beginnings remixing the classics to originals and reworks of recent hits like Foster The People‘s “Pumped Up Kicks” and “SICKO MODE,” the 20-year-old finally has the opportunity to work with some of his favorite artists, including Grouplove, who’re gearing for a fourth studio album release on March 13.
While fans wait for a confirmed release date on his forthcoming debut album, FANTASY, Whethan will debut a brand new live set at Ultra Music Festival 2020, followed by limited dates on a North American headline tour starting March 26 in Los Angeles.
