A huge collection of music industry creatives are running a marathon to raise funds for The Fred Hollows Foundation – a charity that restores eyesight for those in need!
The marathon is set to raise an estimated $250,000 and will feature artists like chart-topping producer Torren Foot and festival conquering Benson. Due to COVID restrictions, fundraisers in Sydney, which included the founders of Listen Out/Field Day, Days Like This and agency UNDR CTRL, completed their run in September which raised $15,000.
You’d think anyone involved in the music industry would be the last person to put their hand up to run a marathon but turns out you’d be very wrong with 140 creatives ready to hit the pavement for a good cause. Maybe its decades of late nights on the dancefloor that has prepped them for it?
Marathons are no joke either meaning contestants have to cover 42.2KM with six runners aiming to complete an ultra-marathon which is 63.3KM.
The marathon project is being organised by Thick As Thieves head honcho Mike Toner, who’s fundraising efforts we’ve covered before as they near the $1,000,000 milestone of funds raised for The Fred Hollows Foundation!
While they usually throw events with Patrick Topping, Claptone and more who donate their fees, the marathon encourages creatives to connect and get physical especially during the extremely hard times of COVID-19.
