2020 started on a high note with the delivery of Coachella‘s upcoming two-weekend lineup. This year’s roster is stacked with exciting billings, from Thom Yorke and Flume to Madeon and Testpilot, though chief among them might be the return of A-Trak and Armand Van Helden‘s beloved Duck Sauce project. The Fool’s Gold Records head teased the project’s return on social media a few days before Duck Sauce appeared on the Coachella lineup, alluding to new music on the way as well as more live performances slated for 2020.
The pair first linked in 2009 and instantly started stealing hearts with sensational disco-inspired dance-pop singles like “aNYway” and the inescapable “Barbra Streisand.” By 2014, Duck Sauce had dropped off their lone studio album, The Quack, which was named one of Dancing Astronaut‘s top albums of the last decade. However, the duo went radio silent shortly thereafter, and really, nobody thought much of it. The New York-based selectors had set out to make a loveably goofy homage to the disco era that could still garner danceability with modern audiences—and they nailed it on the first run. Though now, it appears Duck Sauce is back, and they’re likely going to pick back up exactly where they left off.
