Avicii Wake Me Up is a new and exciting electronic dance music album from the producer of Ambush. With over 25 years experience in the DJ’ing industry, Markus is well placed to create something unique and exciting. He has worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry and is an experienced manager and artist as well. With a background in computer programming and working as a sound engineer, he has certainly been around the block as far as the cutting edge of modern dance music is concerned.
What’s so great about this album? Well, apart from the fact that it’s a killer instrumental part (which is of course incredibly hard to top! ), the album has a wealth of quality original songs spread throughout. From slow gentle ballads to fast paced adrenaline pumping numbers, Avicii Wake Me Up has it all. It’s clear that the man behind the music is an inspired and talented DJ. His musical tastes are diverse but always musical.
On the subject of music that inspires him, Markus has got lots of love for hip hop and big room dance music. In his opinion these styles have lost a lot of their appeal with the arrival of trap music and pop. “People have been influenced too much by the music they’re making and forget that a lot of music is just noise,” he states. Hopefully, he’ll be able to breathe a little more life into some classic tracks on the next album.
The most amazing thing about Avicii Wake Me Up is that Markus took such pains to get this album sounding as great as it does. His mixing is exceptional and you can tell that he really cares about the music he’s making. Even the performances on this album are worth the price. We’re treated to the classic “Wake Me Up” by Avicii, but also we’ve got a few further cuts from artists such as Rihanna, Avicii themselves, and others. It’s great to hear such seasoned talent at work!
The overall structure of the album is quite impressive though. There’s no introduction, and then the main theme. From there, you’re treated to “Hottest”, “Reckoning”, “LPolo”, “Fire”, “My Lovin’ Pookies”, and so on. Some of them might be a bit repetitive, but that’s okay, because they fit well with each other and mark the beginning of the album. Markus’ production work on this album is simply fantastic.
Closing the song we’re introduced to “Wake Me Up”. The first time we’ve heard Avicii at work (with Wretch 32), we weren’t sure whether it was going to be a hit or not. But this track has a lot of energy, and Markus’ production skills are quite evident on this track. It seems he’s not one to hide his creativity, instead opting to let it shine. One the standout tracks on the album, it should definitely be included on your ‘Best of Avicii Wake Me Up!’
A few weeks ago, Rihanna made her debut with ‘Famous’. Though the song is just an introspective ballad, it’s still just as catchy, if not more so, than what Rihanna did with Markus. It makes perfect sense that she decided to team up with another artist that also has the ability to make great electronic dance music. In the world of Rihanna and Markus, this makes complete sense!
Overall, this album is a wonderful showcase for Avicii’s talents. If you haven’t heard, you owe it to yourself to check this out. Avicii Wake Me Up is due to be available from July to September, so hurry up and grab your copy while you can! It will not be around for long!
