Dexter reimagines DLS’ ominous ‘The World Is Detroit’ with charged electro take

Considering that he had his first exposure to electro in the early ’80s when he began hanging with a breakdance crew, it’s no surprise the Dutch artist Dexter embraced electro as his go-to genre. Though Dexter, real name Remy Verheijen, still has his run-ins with raw techno, it’s this deeper adherence to old-school breakbeats and off-kilter snarls that set his DJing apart.

Dexter possesses an ability to command the attention of the dance floor. The glimmers of light that shine through ominous underground soundscapes have driven his career, and it’s to no surprise that this exact same quality is lent onto Dexter’s latest rework, a reimagination of DLS’ “The World Is Detroit.”

With more than a decade of experience as a live artist and DJ, there is little the Klakson founder cannot do; and few places he has not played. Dexter’s music speaks volumes, and the world is listening.
