Dexter’s Beat Laboratory is a weekly collection of songs from DA managing editor Robyn Dexter. With a taste that can only be described as eclectic—to say nothing of a name that lends itself to punnery—DA is happy to present a selection of tracks personally curated by Dexter for your listening pleasure.

Teminite‘s releases are consistently unexpected, and it’s a glorious thing. His latest, “Work,” is a high-octane, electro-fueled tune that impeccably folds in elements of complextro, dubstep, and even a groovy guitar solo toward the middle. It’s irresistibly catchy and full of surprises.
Far Out and Karra have teamed up to deliver an emotive journey on Seven Lions‘ Ophelia called “Constellation.” The song feels right at home on the label with Karra’s wistful vocals and Far Out’s dramatic production. It packs a powerful punch in its brief length and is sure to thrill fans of many electronic music persuasions.
It’s a big day for Koven as the duo release their debut LP, Butterfly Effect. This 14-track collection takes the listener through the breadth of Katie and Max’s artistry. From soaring drum ‘n’ bass tunes like “Stars” to emotive, delicate songs like “For Me,” Butterfly Effect is an exceptional compilation of the pair’s talents.
It’s been more than a year since the world received new Lenno material. The wait is over at long last, though, with the arrival of “Something Real.” Though more subdued than many of the Finnish artist’s productions, “Something Real” still has those funky disco elements that make Lenno’s music so special. The producer even shared a little bit about the making of the track, which fans can check out here.
Luttrell‘s sophomore solo body of work, Lucky Ones, hit the airwaves in full on March 13, complete with a track that shares its name with the LP. The artist said it was his mission with this album to “make you smile, make you dance and most of all, make you feel all the feels,” and the title track,”Lucky Ones,” makes good on that promise. It’s sentimental, nostalgic, and beautifully crafted.
