One of the most viral moments of this year’s Tomorrowland, after the stage fire and subsequent miracle, is a video that shows Hard Techno artist Nico Moreno playing a Dimitri Vegas track on the Mainstage. Which wouldn’t have been an issue, if Dimitri Vegas himself wasn’t next on the stage lineup. A video went viral of Vegas reacting to the song live and looking clueless as to why he was playing it, in a way disrespecting him.
And while the internet has once again split between those who are on Nico’s side and those on Dimitri’s, the latter himself has downplayed the controversy as a simple mishap multiple times, in comment sections of this video, for example. But the roaring was far too loud for only comments to make it stop. So Dimitri Vegas posted a video on his social media emphasizing the situation:
The artist, an iconic Tomorrowland act for over a decade, took to his socials to post a video explaining how the whole situation was wildly exaggerated, since, to him, arguably the victim, wasn’t too serious. “I normally don’t comment on stuff like this, but I feel it’s getting blown out of proportion. And honestly, I feel bad for Nico, because it isn’t that big of a deal“, is part of what he explains.
Several artists commented on the post, backing Vegas’ idea of not beefing over the situation. Nico Moreno himself commented, “Love and respect for you brother, it was a huge pleasure to dance with you on the mainstage, big one ♥️🦋“, and other DJs also showed their appreciation. 999999999 added “Big respect for both. Music unites, not divide“, and Laidback Luke said, “literally ‘Woops’ 😅 worded super eloquently here Dimi, much respect“.
