Dion Timmer has accomplished more by the age of 20 than most people do in a lifetime. Mentored by none other than Excision, Timmer was playing huge festivals when he was technically too young to attend them.
Years of heavy touring and more than a few bass-heavy hits—which include “Going Nowhere,” “Berzerk,” and “Time Stood Still”—Timmer is ready to take the next step in his artistry. This evolution is solidified by his genre-bending debut album, ENTER ACHROMA, out now on Deadbeats.
Much like the label’s founders, Zeds Dead, Timmer approached this album with eyes and ears wide open. Dubstep serves as the backbone, but this is by no means a just a dubstep LP.
In addition to rank departures from the genre like the house tune “Midnight Zone” and the electronica entry “I Know You’re There,” Timmer’s take on dubstep is infused with a sense of haunting melody due largely to his exquisite roster of guest vocalists. Long-time fans will also rejoice to know that this intelligent musicality is balanced with grueling, contorted synthesizers.
