Lil Nas X’s inescapable breakthrough record, “Old Town Road,” will be performed live at the 62nd Annual Grammy Awards ceremony. The chart-topping single has been selected for a “Grammy Moment” performance, during which Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus will collaboratively deliver a live rendition of the viral hit. Along with some help from friends.
BTS, Diplo, and Mason Ramsey, each of whom submitted their own reworks of “Old Town Road” last year, will also take the stage alongside both artists, in addition to surprise special guests. Diplo led the pack of remixers, releasing his revamp of the twangy fan-favorite in April 2019. BTS followed suit with their take, the cleverly titled “Seoul Town Road,” as did Mason Ramsey, whose version featured rapper Young Thug. Both productions landed in July 2019.
“Old Town Road” is not only the focus of what promises to be a momentous live appearance; the track is also up for Record of the Year. Fellow nominees include Bon Iver‘s “Hey Ma,” Billie Eilish‘s similarly year-defining “Bad Guy,” “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande, “Hard Place” by H.E.R., Khalid and Disclosure‘s “Talk,” Lizzo‘s breakout “Truth Hurts,” and “Sunflower” by Post Malone and Swae Lee. The Grammy Awards will broadcast live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles on January 26
