In the wake of the coronavirus, Diplo was one of the first artists to offer respite and hope through this trying time. Pledging to provide nightly “Corona Sabbath” streams from his home, the super-producer has made good on his promise; streaming different themed DJ sets every night so far with a variety of guests.
On Sunday, March 21 Diplo is set to do a Major Lazer stream, during which it’s likely he’ll debut music from the dancehall-revival project’s newest album considering he confirmed the album is finished.
There is speculation this album will be the last from Major Lazer (how many times have groups called a quits and then reunited?), and if that is the case, getting to hear the last new music from them would certainly go a long way to lift spirits as the music industry faces unprecedented woes.
Recently, Major Lazer was included on the lineup for Fuji Rock 2020, set to take place from August 21-23. As of now, it seems the live music industry is optimistic this crisis will subside by then. If we band together, support each other, follow the guidelines of health authorities, then with the help of Diplo and his streams we will get through this.
