Last Thursday on 7/20, the Cyclops Army came in full force to support Subtronic’s grand debut at the Brooklyn Mirage. The show was sold out with it even being on a weekday showing his immense popularity and supportive fanbase.
This was one of the biggest dubstep shows at Mirage this summer being that both the Mirage and the Kings Hall were open with DJ’s playing. Over at the Mirage, Hol!, Prosecute, Beastboi., Austeria, and Royal Flush provided amazing support before Subtronics closed the night. The Kings Hall had Mcnulty, Skellytn, Superave, Saka B2B Fly, A Hundred Drums, and Dirt Monkey playing.
Taking the decks at 10:40pm, Prosecute delivered a bass forward set, dishing out heavy drops, and mid tempo beats to kick up the energy for the crowd. Hol! came on shortly after with ferocity. He turned up the heat with his bass face melting sounds that sent headbangers into a frenzy as the heavy bass ricocheted throughout the Mirage sanctuary.
Subtronics took the decks at 12:40am and everyone in the Mirage knew that it was going to be an unforgettable night. I was thoroughly excited after watching him go b2b with John Summit as SUBJOHNICS at EDC Las Vegas back in May. From start to finish, he did not let the gas off the pedal with banger after banger. The Mirage crowd was sent into dubstep space as ‘Spacetime’ dropped, sending goosebumps pulsing through our bodies. This was probably the highlight of my night as an insane amount of lasers and pyrotechnics went with the drop, as well as the widescreen LED visuals shooting off in the background. The cyclops bootleg of ‘GRIZTRONICS’ was another bass inducing moment which completely swept the crowd off of their feet. Subtronics has a way to take listeners through his extensive discography of tracks, edits, and remixes, delivering an exhilarating soundscape of rage, wubs, and energy. To make the night even more impressive, this was the biggest showcase of lasers in Brooklyn Mirage’s history, and anyone can appreciate mind melting lasers at any edm show.
