Fire Destroys Three Businesses Next To Ushuaïa As Club Staff Aid Emergency Crews

Staff from the renowned Ibiza club Ushuaïa have been commended for their quick action in helping to control a major fire that broke out in the adjacent area of Playa d’en Bossa around 2:00 AM Tuesday, June 10.

The large blaze resulted in the complete destruction of three neighboring businesses. The affected establishments included two restaurants, Sa Sal and another unnamed eatery, as well as a new nightclub that was preparing to open its doors. According to Fire Department Sergeant José Antonio López, the fire necessitated the evacuation of 60 nearby apartments and burned for nearly seven hours before being fully put out around 9:15 AM. While no casualties were reported, several people required treatment for smoke inhalation and one firefighter sustained a burn, according to local outlet Noudiari.

The cause of the fire is currently being investigated.

“It’s possible that it started on one of the outdoor terraces of one of the premises, we still do not know which premises or which terrace.”

While the fire raged nearby, Ushuaïa’s security team and staff members promptly assisted emergency services. Their efforts were crucial in helping to evacuate the area and tackle the flames. Vicent Roig, the mayor of Sant Josep, publicly praised the collaborative response, extending his gratitude to the Ushuaïa staff, local and national police forces, the Civil Guard, and Civil Protection services.

The superclub itself was not damaged and has continued to operate as scheduled, with no interruption to its planned events.
