James Dymond & Linney – What Have I Got To Lose

• Punchy combination of Tech and Uplifting Trance
• Equally catchy vocal performance
• Splendid variations

Today with us we have a heartfelt collaboration, courtesy of FSOE (Future Sound Of Egypt) veteran James Dymond and American vocalist Linney named as “What I Have Got To Lose”. Both of them have been in their heyday in recent years. James released a lot of music including a team-up with the label owner Aly & Fila’s, titled “Wasteland“, as well as launching a side project with Argentina’s tech trance veteran Chris Schweizer known as “Pathfinders“.

As for Linney, who still releases solos and started her electronic team-ups journey back in 2015, can possibly see this year as her apex, better half being almost completed and she has unveiled a lot of works especially such as “Yesterday” with Gareth Emery & NASH, “Shine” with RUB!K, a huge remix pack for her solo “Cool” starring producers of various genres and finally this massive joint-effort.

Now let’s finally move on to what this sounds like. It really feels like they got nothing to lose, eight minutes of brilliant punchy hybrid of energetic basslines and crawling emotions. A nice techy climax to progress till the 2nd minute of the song. Around the end of this, the production arrives with the first climax along with Linney’s vocal materializing with some heartwarming vocals & charming lyrics.
As the first climax goes by, the energy becomes more melodic in tonality.

As usual, the first crescendo traverses into a stellar breakdown, showing off James Dymond’s lush signature breakdown sound with an intriguing turn of pianos and Linney’s vocals, offering complete ambience. The mentioned songstress goes out of the box in this, making it an emotional earworm. The lyrics can motivate you no matter what the time is. As the break goes on, we get to hear the second climax with the main melody. This whole segment equalizes the hooks with the rest of the ensemble. What I admired deeply about this part is the additional riff, earlier used as a background support element.

As said before, the two artists have discarded textbook standards, crafting a song for the listeners about the value of certain things and how they can go beyond that. Looking anxiously forward to what this creators have planned further!
