Norwegian alt-punk sensations drop melancholic new single

Making a name for themselves across Scandinavia and the rest of Europe for their visceral, powerful Alt-punk-pop talent, Oslo’s Lazy Queen returns with a track that showcases the depth and variety of their songwriting talent. They’re an act that uses their music to reflect their own stories of personal struggle and hardship – battling issues of addiction and mental health. Now, their new single “Last Call” might be their most personal work to date.

A meeting of creative minds between New York and Oslo, Lazy Queen have been touring Scandinavia with their unique brand of what they call “bubble-punk” for years. As a result, they’ve built a fearsome reputation for their live performances, which highlight the feral energy of their sound.

Their new single sees the Nordic outfit parsing through personal demons. Whereas previous releases have been self-reflections from lead singer Henrik, “Last Call” was written from the point of view of his friends and family, who experienced Henrik’s addiction issues first hand.

“Our music has always been mostly introspective and personal in it’s narration, but this is in many ways the first song I’ve written from a perspective that isn’t my own,” Henrik shared. “In the context of the EP, it’s written from people close to me to myself, in an attempt to try to understand what they went through and felt like in a period where they were in constant fear that any given conversation with me might be the last. Though it might sound dark, it felt very natural for us to pair the lyrics with a warm, calm and patient instrumental – like being wrapped in a thick blanket of nervous love and care.”
