L.A. indie pop duo dazzles with DIY video for new Mini Mix track
Up-and-coming L.A. group Magdalena Bay never fails to enchant us with their dazzling, cinematic pop stylings. Earlier this year, the duo of Mica Tenenbaum & Matthew Lewin wowed with their latest EP A Little Rhythm and a Wicked Feeling, and have since continued to push the boundaries of their sound with a handful of amazing singles and music video instant-classics. Today they return with the pulsating track & video “Woww” off their upcoming new Mini Mix compilation, the sequel to last year’s Mini Mix, Vol. 1.
With “Woww,” MagBae gives us a short-and-sweet blast of shimmering synths and flickering bass, another loungy, kinetic banger and perhaps their quirkiest song to date. The video clip cuts and pastes Mica and Matthew in front of various L.A. backdrops, using the same sort of vintage, fuzzy VHS-style visual palette that’s already made them DIY music video legends. It’s definitely the perfect formula for a potential viral Tik Tok hit.
“Our most ridiculous song yet, ‘Woww’ is about the self-loathing we project onto others,” they shared.
