Mayan Warrior Art Car Skips Burning Man 2026

The legendary art car and music collective, Mayan Warrior, will take a hiatus from Burning Man in 2026. After years of hosting some of the most iconic sunrise sets in the Nevada desert, the team is shifting its full creative energy toward scaling its new camp, Discosmos.

For over a decade, The Playa has been a cherished home for the collective. Burning Man has served as a primary catalyst for their evolution, creativity, and reimagining of immersive experiences. In 2026, the team is embracing that spirit of change by pausing the deployment of the iconic Mayan Warrior art car. While their broader events will continue, their focus on the Playa is shifting toward their new camp, Discosmos, located at 2 & J, which will be dedicated to art installations and music.

The absence of the Mayan Warrior will be felt by many, particularly those who frequented their legendary sunrise DJ sets, which often featured surprise performances from major artists like John Summit and Anyma. Founded by Pablo González Vargas, the project debuted in 2011 and became a multi-million-dollar mobile stage that masterfully blended ancient Mexican visual culture with modern electronic music.

Burning Man 2026 is scheduled to run from August 30 through September 7. While the legendary art car will not be present, the debut of Discosmos promises a new chapter for the collective and the community at large.
