Titled ‘Perfect World,’ the track is out now via Embassy One, offering a vivid glimpse into the artist’s creative evolution.
Breaking the 4/4 Mold
With ‘Perfect World,’ Monolink trades his signature four-on-the-floor beat for a groove inspired by UK garage and breakbeat. The result is a track that pulses with kinetic energy while maintaining his hallmark intimacy.
Shuffling percussion, textured synth layers, and Monolink’s unmistakable vocals come together in a hypnotic blend that captures the emotional weight of modern life. Themes of disconnection, distraction, and digital detachment course through the song, mirroring the restless rhythm beneath.
The idea for this track started as a jam session with my friend Severin Kantereit where we laid the foundation for the groove and the chords. I wanted to create something different and break out of the 4-to-the-floor groove, feeling inspired by UK garage and break beats. The song and lyrics came to me on a morning in a café in Hamburg, watching people rushing to work, constantly distracted on their phones – including myself.

Accompanying the single is a stunning visual directed by Nicola von Leffern, who previously worked with Monolink on the video for ‘Mesmerized.’ The film presents a chilling contrast between digital numbness and human reconnection.
Set in a world obsessed with screens, the video portrays individuals caught in absurd, tech-induced routines: a man drops his phone on his own face mid-scroll, a woman struggles to lift her head in the mirror, and a masseuse doom-scrolls with one hand while working with the other.
But as the video progresses, something cracks: two strangers lock eyes. A spark ignites, leading to a powerful sequence of unchoreographed dance and movement. It becomes a collective awakening—a reclaiming of presence and emotion. A reminder that “being here” means more than being online.
