Sydney singer/songwriter Billy Fox continues a run of impressive singles in 2021 with a drum laden new track with a political edge titled ‘Break This Hunger’.
A co-release from Sydney imprint Eyegaze and Japanese/French label Kitsune, ‘Break This Hunger’ came to fruition off the back of a string of studio sessions between Billy and fellow Eyegaze label-mate, Pat Carroll, whose technical prowess with electronic production – that you might remember on his last release ‘Hope‘ – once again shines through and finds a perfect balance with Billy’s soulful vocal work.
Despite sounding custom built for the dance floor, with catchy lyricism and pulsing drums, Billy details a more political drive behind the song, saying “the lyrics were written around the time Scott Morrison cut funding for the arts in 2019/2020, and are pointed towards the struggles of being an artist in Australia.”
