• A fresh take on a 2004 Eurodance track
• Squeenzie‘s vocals are warm yet vivid
• The drop fuses aggressive Techno with Hardstyle vibes
This Hypertechno cover starts off strong, choosing the underrated 2004 Eurodance track “Lonely” by Deep.Spirit. While I wish I could dig up more about the original artist (there’s not much online except a basic Facebook page), the track has had its fair share of remixes over the years, from Techno to Hardstyle. Now, Buyakee, Darwin, and Squeenzie bring us an unofficial 2024 version, and it’s an exciting one.
Squeenzie’s vocals keep the warmth of the original but bring in a vivid new timbre. They sit perfectly over a hard-hitting bassline that pairs well with the Eurodance attitude of “Lonely.” The track evolves with some bold moments, especially in the buildup where the dark lead and heavy kick sometimes overshadow the rest of the mix. It’s got this driving energy that makes it hard not to feel hyped up. Honestly, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about this track at first, but the more I hear it, the more it hooks me in.
Then there’s the drop, where Hypertechno really comes to life. The aggressive Techno bassline combines with a sped-up lead that edges into Hardstyle territory. “Lonely” is definitely a banger! I can already imagine it being played around in all sort of clubs.
I wasn’t familiar with the original, but the more I listen to both versions, the more I find myself wanting to dance on this cold December day. Buyakee, Darwin, and Squeenzie have really built something special here!
