Skrillex Confirms 3rd New Album for 2023

Skrillex posted on Instagram that his forthcoming album is in the works. He announced that his “new album is albuming” from London on Monday. The momentum of his career is truly building. As evidenced by the popularity of his previous album, Don’t Get Too Close, and a headlining set at Coachella.

RATATA

His previous album features 12 tracks, including the hit single ‘RATATA’ that remixes a classic Missy Elliott track. ‘RATATA’ has been a huge success, reaching number one on the Billboard Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The song has also been praised by critics, with Rolling Stone calling it “a high-energy banger that will get you moving.”

Coachella

Skrillex also closed out Coachella with rave reviews. The DJ played a mix of his own hits and remixes, along side Fred Again and Four Tet. The trio did a back to back set on Frank Ocean‘s ice rink platform. This happened because Frank Ocean dropped out last minute, supposedly due to illness. This was particularly notable moment in Coachella history as Blink-182 also stepped up to the plate, marking their return to music after many years away.

Skrillex’s Coachella performance was a major moment for the DJ and for electronic music. The release of his new album and his headlining set at Coachella have helped to solidify Skrillex’s status as one of the biggest names in EDM today.

In addition to his music, Skrillex is also known for his work as a producer. He has worked with some of the biggest names in music, including Justin Bieber, Diplo, and Rick Ross. His recent repositioning into the center of the pop culture eye is great news for EDM. It means that his slightly gothic, harder style of electronic is moving into the mainstream. We here at EDMTunes look forward to seeing what Sonny comes up with next.
