Spencer is out there completing milestone after milestone.
The latest offering from Spencer Brown‘s headquarters is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Spencer is celebrating the release of his latest single on his imprint diviine, titled ‘Lost My Ya Dom‘. A track that is said to be a bit of a comeback to his iconic melodic sound after very successful affairs with Techno and related subgenres, the composition draws creative energy from the vibrant atmosphere and spiritual allure of Thailand, a place quite inspiring for the producer.
And if that was little, get a hold of this: he’s got the tune reworked by two of Argentina’s most esteemed musical talents, Hernan Cattaneo and Kevin Di Serna. The pair has re-envisioned the original for a high-impact, peak-time performance that adapts the original tune to club and festival setups. Their new version maintains the essence and feel of the original, while infusing it with the artists’ unique atmospheric and dramatic style.
Following the release, Spencer Brown is off to a nonstop touring season that will take him across North America. He starts his journey with two shows alongside Above & Beyond in Texas, playing B2B with his friend Qrion. From there, he will travel to various cities, including Portland, St. Louis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, and Salt Lake City, before wrapping up the year at the Contact Festival in Vancouver. He will also detour towards Malta for Anjunadeep.
‘Lost My Ya Dom’
The original track is pure bliss in my opinion. It’s very melodic, very hypnotic, and very much like the Spencer Brown that I remember and who actually drew me into deeper styles, back when I was a purely Anjunabeats guy. The arrangement reminds me of ‘Phases’, Spence’s iconic collaboration with Ben Böhmer, so if you’re looking for references, I think that’s a fair comparison. I love it.
The remix on the other hand is quite good too. It definitely introduces some much-needed high-energy elements that will make this track actually spinnable at one of Hernan’s Sunsetstrip events. Also, it’s such an impressive thing to say “Oh, I’ve signed Cattaneo to my label“. But if you ask me, the original is my favourite by a mile, because of that nostalgic SB sound.
