• Solid signature sound in the drop
• Great vocal performance for this kind of piece
• The breakdown is Avicii-influenced
It’s been a long time since I’ve reviewed something from Syn Cole, the Estonian veteran who began his career on LE7ELS. Since then, he’s been on a long journey with millions of streams and performances at major festivals like Tomorrowland, UMF, and EDC. It’s fun that Syn Cole started on Avicii’s label because “Rescue Me” reminds me of the legendary producer and his laidback “country” EDM. Add to this effective formula the splendid voice of Platinum-certified Parson James, and we have a solid hit, just released on Helix Records, with the right attitude to light up the upcoming summer nights!
Syn Cole’s leads are always very delicate, reminiscent of Tropical House (similar to Kygo) but often paired with Progressive or Future Bass structures. This return to his roots is impressive because it feels natural, with a piano pairing up with his signature sound, a soft guitar in the break, and a joyful melody that persists for the whole (short) duration.
Parson James sings with joy, creating a very effective breakdown. As always, I wonder if someone will ever bring this effective “country” vibe and make something that truly stands out, given how overused the formula is. “Rescue Me” indeed starts with a too familiar vibe.
However, Syn Cole has the talent and experience to make things shine, and the drop slaps with the bouncy piano and his sound. Sweet, delicate, yet a joy to dance to!
“Rescue Me” doesn’t dare to change one of the most effective EDM structures of all time, but it’s a beautiful tune for the upcoming summer season. I’m very satisfied with the performance of the two artists involved. Looking forward to more results like this!
