Even with James Bond hosting “Saturday Night Live,” The Weeknd knew he had to steal the show. Donned in his signature After Hours look—red jacket, square-frame sunglasses, bloody nose and all—the singer-songwriter stopped by 30 Rockefeller Plaza to debut his new song, “Scared to Live.”
A departure from the fast-paced thrill of “Blinding Lights“—which the Canadian musician also performed—“Scared to Live” is a reflective ballad examining a past relationship held together by nothing more than uncut passion. “And if I held you back, at least I held you close,” The Weeknd croons among a sea of blue lights.
Both tracks, along with prior singles “Heartless” and “After Hours,” are slated to appear on The Weekend’s forthcoming LP After Hours, due out March 20. The After Hours world tour begins this in Vancouver this June with support from Sabrina Claudio, Don Toliver, and 88Glam.
