Last week was one of the most shocking moments for the EDM community. A fire broke out at Tomorrowland’s Main Stage in Belgium, 48 hours before the festival was set to open. However, against all odds, the festival continued to operate with some adjustments. Despite the fire, they provided an incredible experience for weekend one. An unexpected band helped save the weekend. The unlikely saviors were none other than one of the “Big Four” Thrash Metal bands, Metallica. Tomorrowland’s organisers reached out to the group to borrow their stage setup, located in an Austrian storage. After they agreed to lend it, the stage was airlifted just in time for the opening.
Fans and artists alike praised Metallica for their help in delivering the stage. This allowed the festival to happen. EDM icon Martin Garrix also showed his gratitude with a heartfelt post to thank the metal band. Thanks to them, he managed to play his set on the main stage.
Metallica used the stage for their M72 world tour. A few weeks ago, the tour finished at the London Stadium. Rather than shipping it back to the United States, they kept it in a storage facility in Austria. The group will resume their tour this fall, starting in Australia, with the same stage.
The All Within My Hands Foundation highlighted the group’s charity work as well. It explained that behind the scenes, they have been helping people out for years. Whether you’re a raver or a metalhead, you can’t deny how amazing this collaboration was.
The beautiful mayhem will continue in Belgium as we prepare for weekend 2 of Tomorrowland.
