• Avicii-ish Future House
• The evolving melodic structure adds depth
• Bassline could be punchier
Today, I want to introduce you to a small project that really caught my attention with its lighthearted style and innocent sound design. Uggly Bob, a new producer from Spain, has started his journey with a few independent releases, and one of them really struck a chord with me—“Shadows of You”.
The track’s style feels like a blend of Avicii and Mesto, featuring that funky, happy Future House vibe with a hint of Bounce. I was particularly drawn to the light, playful lead and how smoothly the vocal fits in. The overall feeling left me with a sense of pure joy and positivity.
On second thought, I’d say it leans more toward Mike Williams than Mesto. But what really amazed me is the melody—it’s so complex for this kind of track, and yet it works beautifully! It manages to remain engaging without being overcomplicated, which is a difficult balance to strike in a genre like this.
I’m not sure where the vocal comes from, but it blends perfectly with the melody’s bright, happy vibe. The melodic pattern grows more complex as the track progresses, loop after loop, while still keeping the rhythm dynamic and fresh. I found myself getting hooked on “Shadows of You” with each new section—that’s the power of a great melody!
There are, of course, areas where Uggly Bob could improve. The mix could use a bit more definition, especially with the bassline—I wish it hit harder and gave the track more punch. However, it’s clear Uggly Bob is having fun with this track, and that’s the kind of creative joy that makes me keep doing this—reviewing music from artists who are genuinely enjoying the process of making their own music.
“Shadows of You” captivates, entertains, and leaves a great impression. I’m thrilled to see Uggly Bob finding success, and I’m sure this release will do well, especially in the party season!
