Sultan + Shepard Join Colyn for Heavenly New Single ‘1973’

Canadian Melodic House Duo Sultan + Shepard join Dutch Melodic Techno prodigy Colyn for a new and celestial single. Now available on Lane 8’s This Never Happened label, ‘1973’ combines the soulful style of Sultan + Shepard and the vigorous melodies of Colyn for a beautiful and ethereal song. We knew this single was something special when Sultan + Shepard debuted the track during their b2b with Lane 8 at Petco Park for Proper NYE.

‘1973’

In the trajectory of becoming one of the prettiest songs of the Summer, ‘1973’ is as uplifting as it is rhythmic. The soft melodies and synths harmoniously accompany each other. Moreover, the whisper-like vocals and the delicate reverbs add depth and dimension to the track, exploding in a vibrant and inspiring drop.

The single comes as a great follow-up after Sultan + Shepard’s latest EP Communicate, which was released alongside a simple yet fun visual mix on YouTube. In the video, the duo is driving around LA during sunset, listening to the EP in a classic Mercedes convertible.

On the other hand, Colyn is now showing a softer side of himself, which is apparent on his second-to-last collaboration ‘Set Me Free’, with Innellea. ‘1973’ marks Colyn’s very first release on This Never Happened. This comes as a big step for the artist, as he consistently showcases his talent under Anyma’s Melodic Techno Label Afterlife.

New Baby

The first half of the year was impactful for Sultan + Shepard besides these last few releases. The duo headed to Bakersfield to play a sunset set for Lightning in a Bottle; however, Shepard played a solo set. The artist then explained that Sultan’s wife had just given birth to their second child. As the crowd erupted in cheers and claps, the rest of the 2-hour set. Finally, the performance became a celebration of new life.
