We’re excited to share this one with you all. Released this past Friday 15th on Monstercat, Jon Casey‘s new EP, HAPPY TO BE HERE, comes to share the uniqueness and the taste of an artist who’s been around for 15 years. The six-part EP puts distinctive sound, open-mindedness, and forward-thinking qualities to the front, for a final product that is both daring and brilliant.
Combining Trap, experimental Bass, and musical elements from his South African background, the EP also shows Casey’s gratitude and development as a performing artist. “This EP is an accumulation of my entire experience being a touring artist. It embodies my appreciation for the entire process. It takes the tone of ‘I’m just happy to be doing what I love and I never want to take any of it for granted.’ The collaborations showcase the range I have cultivated over the years. It is sort of a farewell to the old and a wink at the new”, he comments.

The EP kicks off with ‘DON’T U‘, a futuristic trap song filled with catchy beats that grab your attention from the get-go, to then lead on to ‘AHORA‘, a lively collaboration with TroyBoi, featuring Latin-style flavours. ‘GO!‘ is next, where Casey partners with PEEKABOO for a raw mix of twisted vocals and massive basslines, ending in ‘RUDE!‘ alongside KARAN!, a beat-filled track that blends tribal drums with sharp sound engineering. Then comes ‘EARTHQUAKE‘ with PAID!NFULL, a track made for the dancefloor, and finally, ‘WAITING ROOM‘ sees Casey’s production blended with entrancing vocals from Marhly, mixing emotional depth into the equation.
