The Dirtybird CampINN festival had occurred over the Labor Day weekend at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel near Universal Studios and its attendees are still seeking refunds due to a payment issue between the festival organizer and the hotel. Since 2021, DirtyBird CampINN has involved a complete buyout of the DoubleTree resort. As a result, this buyout has allowed many DJs to perform at various locations within the resort, including the pool area, conference rooms, and guest rooms.
Tickets, in which the attendees purchase them directly from the organizer, range from several hundred dollars for entry to around $1,800 or more for hotel stays. The resort can host thousands of guests and the guests who attended the festival are not pleased that they had to pay twice for their hotel rooms.
Dirtybird CampINN faces scrutiny for failing to pay hotel
According to an article from local Orlando-based ABC affiliate, WFTV, when Dirtybird CampINN attendees arrived to check in, they learned from the front desk that they had to pay for their rooms again because the organizer had not paid the hotel. Some guests could not afford the $1,000 hold on their credit cards and had to sleep in their cars. The hotel stated that it would release the hold if Music Festival Trips made full payment.
Weeks later, many guests reported they were still waiting for a solution. One of those guests who attended the festival was an individual from Jacksonville and she gave her statement to WFTV regarding whether Music Festival Trips will pay in full by saying “It’s always a mixed story. ‘It’s coming, it’s coming. We’re fixing it’”. This individual also expressed her frustrations regarding the hold and added, “It’s just not fair to us. It’s just very wrong that he’s doing this and leading people on and selling something that nobody got”.
Attendees Hoping for the Best
Another person who also attended the festival shared emails from Music Festival Trips. In fact, the emails initially stated that the organizer had paid the hotel and that refunds were coming. However, the hotel later denied this claim in a now-deleted Facebook post. An email from September 16 mentioned that Music Festival Trips was still waiting for an itemized bill from the resort. This person then said to WFTV, ““We are a dedicated community who want our story to be heard and the people who have wronged us to be held responsible”.
Both individuals who WFTV had interviewed also added that the Music Festival Trips organizer is still promoting and selling tickets to people for its other event in Orlando, Home Bass, which takes place on the same weekend as EDC Orlando. Although the event’s website said Home Bass, would take place at the same hotel as Dirtybird CampINN, hotel management confirmed they would not host this event. Music Festival Trips has not yet responded to requests for comment.
