Moby and Jacob Lusk Release Official Version of 'Natural Blues'

When Moby brought Gabriels frontman Jacob Lusk on stage at Coachella 2026 for a surprise ten-minute performance, few anticipated it would spark one of the year’s most requested dance records. Now, house titan Defected Records has answered the call, officially releasing the studio version of ‘Natural Blues (TECIE)’.

The release unites Moby, Lusk, BLOND:ISH, and Kiko Franco on an expansive, soul-drenched rework of the 1999 electronic classic.

From the Desert Stage to the Studio

Defected’s initial 2025 club update of ‘Natural Blues’, driven by BLOND:ISH’s piano lines and Kiko Franco’s Afro-house rhythms, shot to No. 1 on Beatport’s House chart and logged over 10 million streams. However, Lusk’s commanding, gospel-infused vocal delivery in the California desert injected a fresh emotional gravity that fans demanded.

“Who knew that 10 minutes on stage with him at Coachella would completely change my life?” shared Jacob Lusk. “With everything that’s going on in the world right now, I think a lot of people feel alone… But this song and this experience are a reminder that we are not alone. No matter how dark it gets, everything is actually going to be okay.”

Producer Kiko Franco echoed the sentiment: “Working on a legendary song like ‘Natural Blues’ is truly mind-blowing… I’m grateful to have the talented Jacob Lusk join us for this new version, which was unveiled in a surreal performance at Coachella.”

The ‘TECIE’ Connection

The track carries the subtitle ‘(TECIE)’, linking the single directly to an upcoming original film of the same name. Centered on a Gen-Z romance within Los Angeles’ animal rights and activism scene—a movement long championed by Moby—the true meaning of the acronym ‘TECIE’ remains under wraps until November.

‘Natural Blues (TECIE)’ is out now on all major streaming platforms via Defected Records.
