Chris Stussy Announces Official Name Change to Chris Stassy

In a move that marks a major new chapter for one of underground dance music’s brightest tech house stars, Dutch tech house producer and DJ Chris Stussy, born Niels Christian Steenbergen, has officially announced a full brand overhaul, stepping into a new era under the moniker Chris Stassy. Over the past few years, Stussy has been on an undeniable upward trajectory. From tearing up mainstages at Awakenings and Sonus to hosting packed Up The Stuss label showcases around the globe, his smooth, groove-heavy signature sound has made him a household name for house heads worldwide. But as any artist with a relentless drive for innovation knows, sticking to one lane for too long can feel limiting.

The name change signals a deliberate evolution in his musical direction. While fans fell in love with his deep, bassline-driven house grooves, Stassy has hinted that this rebrand reflects a broadening creative scope. Expect a blend of stripped-back minimalist arrangements, deeper ambient influences, and a raw, peak-time energy designed for longer, immersive club sets.

He has also updated his social media handle to @chrisstassy while maintaining his record label, Up The Stuss. While the artist did not explicitly state the reason for the change, industry speculation suggests a potential conflict with the American streetwear brand Stüssy. To celebrate the transition, he will debut his new identity with the N.A.M.E. party series in Birmingham on August 22nd and Amsterdam on the 27th. The announcement has already garnered significant attention, with peers ranging from Gordo to Marco Carola taking to social media to support the decision.
