Taipei producer W2 is back on Kannibalen Records, this time teaming up with fellow Taiwanese producer PUFFcorn for a new single called ‘ICED OUT.’ The track lands as the second single off W2’s upcoming EP, following her label debut earlier this year with ‘STUCK IN MY HEAD.’
‘ICED OUT’ is built around a sample-driven intro and sharp, snapping claps that ramp up fast before dropping into a hybrid trap section loaded with gritty, festival-ready stabs and melodic synth work. It’s the kind of drop built for a big room reaction, but the track doesn’t stop there.
Midway through, ‘ICED OUT’ pivots into a hard techno second drop, a shift in tempo and texture that changes the entire feel of the record without losing the momentum built in the first half. Rather than bolting two genres together for shock value, W2 and PUFFcorn make the transition sound intentional, giving DJs a track that can work two different rooms in one play.
That two-part structure is really what sets ‘ICED OUT’ apart. It gives the record a level of versatility that’s useful for DJs building sets that swing between hybrid trap energy and harder, four-on-the-floor techno moments, without needing to reach for two separate records.
For W2, the release keeps the momentum going after ‘STUCK IN MY HEAD,’ which also opened Kannibalen’s Kannibals at the Beach Vol. 5 compilation earlier this year. ‘ICED OUT’ marks PUFFcorn’s first outing on the label, adding another name to Kannibalen’s growing roster of bass-focused producers from across the globe.
Kannibalen Records has built its reputation over the past decade as a home for hybrid trap, dubstep, and bass-adjacent sounds. Bringing in producers like W2 and PUFFcorn continues that pattern of scouting talent from scenes outside the usual North American and European bass hubs.
