Lil Uzi Vert craftily samples Hundred Waters on ‘Eternal Atake’ deluxe edition

A week after surprise dropping his second studio album Eternal Atake on March 6, Lil Uzi Vert served up its extensive deluxe edition LUV vs. the World 2. His latest release acts as both the second part of Eternal Atake and the mixtape sequel to his third mixtape, Lil Uzi Vert vs. the World.

Featuring a star-studded track listing with rap talent from the likes of Chief Keef, 21 Savage, Future, Young Thug, Gunna, and more, Eternal Atake‘s two-discs span an impressive offering from the Grammy-nominated act. The hip-hop showcase comes as no surprise; but, Uzi’s diverse genre tastes have always been at the forefront of his musicality—citing punk-rock influences in light of his emo rap stylings. Now, more of the rapper’s eclectic preferences have been uncovered, evidently his softer side. The latest finding is OWLSA‘s own Hundred Waters.

Hundred Waters tweeted, “weird time to discover you’re on an uzi vert album” on the day of the mixtape’s release. On “Come This Way”, Uzi samples the synth-folk trio’s track “Xtalk” from their 2014 studio album The Moon Rang Like a Bell. With the original instrumentals just shy of recognizable in the expertly-crafted beat, Uzi manages to slip in a nearly-unnoticed glimmer of sentimental indie-electronic inspiration from Hundred Waters. We see you, Uzi.
