Rising Belgian indie rockers drop hazy, melancholic new gem
Combining the dejection we’re all currently experiencing with a hopeful outlook to the future, Brussels five-piece Great Mountain Fire return with the warm and hazy new single “The Way.” Rich in processed guitar elements and indie-psych textures, it’s an attempt from the indie risers to address the massive social, health and political issues we face in western society today.
Identifying as a pop band, Great Mountain Fire are an act drenched in indie-rock culture that employs elements from global music to create a truly unique output. In recording their latest project, they met up in a wooden house south of Brussels to build the early stages of the project. They’ve also recorded in houses covered in Sand Dunes in the desert, bringing their nomadic lifestyle into the recording process.
Their new single showcases all the elements that make the band an intriguing talent, featuring plenty of reverb-soaked guitars and other hazy instrumental layers. There’s a distinctly lo-fi vibe throughout the project, which also includes a synth-rich production that gives the track a wavey, leftfield vibe. Give it a spin below.
