Building on the strong first impression made with their debut single ‘Back It Up’ in July, ALRT and Sam Silver return with their latest release, ‘Again,’ featuring the talents of Whiterosemoxie and Yona. This track is the second release from their forthcoming ‘Leap 96’ EP, scheduled to drop on October 18th via the LA-based label TH3RD BRAIN Records.

‘Again’ is characterized by an energetic liquid drum and bass production that perfectly complements the vocal interplay between Yona and Whiterosemoxie. Their contrasting voices—male and female—create a dynamic tension that mirrors the complexities of relationships. The emotionally charged lyrics, paired with ethereal melodies, lead into a high-energy DnB drop, offering listeners a modern sound that pushes beyond traditional genre boundaries.

Yona, the 18-year-old bilingual French-American singer-songwriter, brings her unique blend of pop, with touches of grunge, grime, and guitars, to the track. Her intensely emotional and distinctive voice enhances the production, adding depth and a unique flair that perfectly complements the song’s overall vibe.

Whiterosemoxie, an American rapper, shares a deep personal connection with ‘Again,’ expressing, “When we recorded ‘Again’, I had just recently gone through a breakup, and constantly saw it rubbed in my face on social media. At the top of the year, I had found new love and wrote this song to express my cautionary attitude towards my new relationship. We were at the point where we could decide to be more than friends or hit the brakes. Knowing we both want more out of life than what we have now, it is very hard to imagine a successful relationship that also allows for us to achieve what we want. When we do this thing we both know we shouldn’t do, will you blame it all on me?”

Leap 96 is a creative collaboration between Sam Silver and ALRT, drawing inspiration from the late ’90s and early 2000s, when Garage and Drum and Bass began to emerge in the rave scene. Their music combines vocal-driven dance elements that work equally well in both high-energy and more laid-back settings. The project’s name, Leap 96, was chosen to signify the year between Sam and ALRT’s birthdays, which also happens to be a leap year.

The sound of Leap 96 is a testament to the duo’s diverse backgrounds—ALRT’s roots in the old-school rave scene and Sam Silver’s influences from modern garage, rap, and ethereal house. This combination creates a distinct sound that blends elements of garage, rap, DnB, and indie pop, resulting in something truly unique.

The collaboration between Sam Silver and ALRT began unexpectedly in a Hollywood, California studio, where ALRT co-founded with the well-known artist/producer JOYRYDE. What started as a casual co-writing session quickly evolved into two months of intensive co-production, resulting in the four tracks that make up the upcoming EP, with many more projects currently in progress.

Make sure to listen to ‘Again’ and stay tuned for the full ‘Leap 96’ EP, dropping on October 18th!
