EDC Orlando’s Stadium Reveals Final Upgrade Design with Dynamic Skin

Joshua Princeton August 1, 2026 3 min read

When EDC Orlando returns in November, it will mark the final edition before the venue itself begins to take center stage. DLR Group has officially finalized its design for the Camping World Stadium renovation, with the centerpiece being a sophisticated new outer skin composed of 19 LED ribbons running along the east and west sideline walls.

The ribbons are positioned behind silver metal panels designed to diffuse light, allowing the facade to function as a high-fidelity display for messages and visuals while maintaining a sleek, architectural appearance. Each panel acts as a pixel, and the metal shielding protects the technology from Florida’s unpredictable weather. During the day, the silver finish is intended to reflect sunlight, mirroring the aesthetic of the surrounding lakes and ponds. Beyond its visual impact, the skin serves as essential hurricane bracing for the structure.

“They wanted to redefine the identity of the stadium, this new, contemporary destination,” said Ryan Freeland, sports design leader at DLR Group.

As a venue without a permanent tenant, the stadium was specifically engineered to adapt its character to the needs of different events. EDC Orlando, which attracts approximately 100,000 attendees daily, stands as the largest annual electronic music festival on the East Coast. The venue also hosts major events like Rolling Loud and Warped Tour, and it is slated to house the Jacksonville Jaguars for the 2027 season during the reconstruction of EverBank Stadium.

The $400 million project is funded by Orange County’s tourist development tax, with $330 million dedicated to the stadium itself. A $61 million events center is also in development, with construction expected to commence by the end of the year. The overall renovation, managed by Barton Malow and AECOM Hunt, began in late 2025 and is scheduled for completion by summer 2027.

The 650,000-square-foot expansion will increase capacity to over 65,000, replacing upper-bowl bleachers with modern chairback seating. A new north end zone tower will enclose the bowl, while retractable seating in the south lower bowl will provide flexibility for concert stages and faster event changeovers. While the design is approved, the city is currently selecting a contractor for the specialized LED wall installation.

“More people see the outside of the venue than the inside,” noted Allen Johnson, the city’s chief venues officer. “Why shouldn’t they get a special experience as well?”

Events will continue throughout the construction phase. EDC Orlando 2026 is set for November 6–8, featuring headliners David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and Hardwell. The 2027 edition of the festival is expected to be the first to showcase the fully completed and illuminated stadium skin.
