Here are even more of our top picks for our New Music Friday series, in no particular order.
WAVES feat. DIAS – Jalapeño
Genre: Tech House
Toronto-based duo WAVES has joined forces with Hip-Hop artist DIAS on the hottest (pun intended) Tech House track out there, ‘Jalapeño‘. The vocals are catchy, the rhythm hooks you, and the overall tone of the track is playful. You’re missing out if you’re not listening already.
“Jalapeño is the result and first wave of our new music“, say WAVES. “We couldn’t be more excited to release it to the world. Not only did we make it with our friend and up & coming rapper DIAS, it is also the spiciest song we’ve ever made“.
Genre: House
Japan-based electronic music duo Pasocom Music Club innovate today with a really original, and really catchy tune. ‘UFO-mie‘ is one of those tracks that have absolutely no right to be as good as they are, because they grab your attention from the very beginning, and keep you right there until the end.
Blending Hip-Hop, House, old school sounds, and an incredible energy, ‘UFO-mie’ sees Pasocom Music Club unite with The Hair Kid to deliver a work we can’t begin to understand — in a good way, of course. You have to listen to justify our words. By the way, the music video is sublime. Watch it here.
Fritz Kalkbrenner – Set You Free
Genre: Deep House, Chicago House
Fritz Kalbrenner, Paul’s brother, does, in fact, know how to make great music. It couldn’t be any other way. After successful collaborations between them such as the legendary Berlin Calling, Fritz returns today with a solo track, ‘Set You Free‘.
The track doesn’t scream for attention. Instead, it beckons with a gentle allure. The piece was carefully crafted to bring back the best auras and sounds from the past, having an intimate spirit of Classic House. This is one of those tracks that make you go “Mmmmmmm“.
John Newman – Guiding Light
Genre: Dance Pop, Trance
If the name, or the voice, sounds familiar, it’s because he truly is an icon of EDM. John Newman, the golden voice behind tracks like Calvin Harris’ ‘Blame‘, makes a long-awaited return with a track of his own, titled ‘Guiding Light‘.
Press play and get ready to be flown back ten years. His voice is timeless, yet at the same time is the voice of an era. An era in which many people discovered the magic of EDM through the golden Progressive House tunes. This track, design-wise, goes back even further, to catch the style and cues of the early noughties and earlier Trance sound. Just listen and see!
Adventure Club & Codeko – Feels Like You
Genre: Future Bass
What’s not to love about a classic Adventure Club? One of the acts that led the mid-2010s in EDM, the Grammy-nominated duo, often referred to as the creators of Melodic Bass, recently collaborated with British act Codeko. The result? ‘Feels Like You‘.
Melodic, garage-like, and basically containing all those little details that make an Adventure Club tune, truly an Adventure Club tune, ‘Feels Like You’ blends a beautiful vocal with endless amounts of tension, and half-time drops that take us back in time.
Sidechainers – Firestorm
Genre: Drum & Bass
Driven by a passion for diverse music, duo Sidechainers present their first venture into Drum and Bass. After a long and rich career in the Hardstyle scene, this is their way to explore a new path, while still carrying over the force and power that characterises them. And it is called ‘Firestorm‘.
Rock-infused at times, and raw and tight the rest of the duration, the tune is a playful track, that carries the essence of Hardstyle, for sure. Enjoy the pace of the track as you unconsciously start moving your head up and down. It’s that infectious.
Danimal & Influencerz – High
Genre: Happy Hardcore
Danny Zuiderwijk, also known as Danimal, had a meteoric rise just barely starting his career, having won a remix contest for Jay Sean and Sean Paul’s ‘Make My Love Go’, back in 2017. Since then, he’s been focused on reaching for the stars, not caring about genres nearly as much as he cares about crafting something that can be entertaining in every instant of time.
He joins Influencerz on ‘High‘, a Happy Hardcore track that is sure to lift your spirit and make you, well, feel happy. Enjoy the vocals, the leads, and the rhythm, and try and resist the urge to dance it all out. We couldn’t!
ellipsis – Goodnight
Genre: Indie Electronic, Dance Pop
Mike Irving and Ryan Peitzke, better known as ellipsis, present their self-titled debut album on December 29th, 2023. Before that date, though, the duo have decided to lift a few singles from the LP. One of those tracks is ‘Goodnight‘.
Calm, warm and cosy, ‘Goodnight’ brings elements from Synthwave, House, and more genres, to create a perfect blend that screams “late night drive” all over. This piece pictures dark streets, tall skyscrapers with their flashy lights turned on, and a distant sense of relief. It is a must-listen.
