One week after label head Mat Zo debuted “Blessed Be Thy Name” to tease the sound of This is MAD TOO, MAD ZOO doubles down on one of dance music’s hottest topics with the release of its second compilation.
The label’s follow-up to This is MAD ZOO emerged as a Beatport exclusive on Jan. 20 with a full release on Jan. 24. While Anti.Negative is the only artist besides Zo to return from the first album, Kraysh and GLADEZ have both recently released music on MAD ZOO.
Beginning with Carpainter’s “Wut U Tryin,” the album provides a wide range of different styles of drum ‘n’ bass as elements of bounce, glitch, and trap can be heard throughout production by VÄRI, Tsuruda, and many others.
The bass-heavy tracks are the focus of works by newcomers such as ME DI UM, whose online presence is bare besides MAD ZOO debut “Things I Did.” Indian producer Seven & Seven’s “Turf” shifts away from the breakbeat-centric sound as it closes the compilation.
MAD ZOO capped off the release by teaming up with Los Angeles-based music/culinary hybrid Bass Waffles for the official complication release party.
