MoBlack Reworks Djanka Diabaté’s ‘Mounkera’

MoBlack reworks Djanka Diabaté’s Mounkera, placing her original vocal at the centre of a new Afro House release. Released on October 16, 2026, through MoBlack Records, the track sees the producer return to an earlier song from Djanka Diabaté to reimagine it within a contemporary electronic framework. Her vocal remains the focal point throughout, supported by intricate percussion, deep low-end frequencies, and layered electronic textures.

The release follows a productive year for MoBlack, who has continued to collaborate closely with African artists while expanding his label’s global footprint.

The Voice Behind Mounkera

For MoBlack, the creative process began with the raw power of Djanka Diabaté’s voice. He noted that the original recording resonated with him immediately due to the profound emotion and cultural identity embedded in her performance. “There was something timeless, raw and deeply emotional about the original,” he explained regarding his decision to revisit the track.

Rather than simply layering the vocal over a standard beat, MoBlack meticulously developed the production to complement the singer’s delivery. The arrangement creates space for Diabaté’s voice, allowing percussion and electronic elements to build gradually. The extended version, clocking in at just over five minutes at 120 BPM, serves as a masterclass in modern Afro House production.

Connecting The Original With MoBlack’s Current Work

The original Mounkera carries a rich history that extends well beyond its 2026 revival. This connection aligns seamlessly with MoBlack’s own artistic journey and his deep-rooted relationship with African music. Having spent nearly a decade living in Ghana, he has consistently integrated those authentic influences into his work as a producer, DJ, and label head.

This commitment to authentic collaboration has been a hallmark of his recent output. Throughout 2026, MoBlack has worked alongside established African artists, including Salif Keïta, further cementing his role in bridging traditional songwriting with modern dance floors. By keeping the original vocal intact, MoBlack ensures that the soul of the song remains the primary focus, honoring the legacy of Djanka Diabaté while introducing her artistry to a new generation of listeners.
