Los Angeles band OYLS has possibly created a breakthrough for the music industry by way of a new revenue stream. OYLS have been friends since high school. They began making music together 6 years ago. The duo is about to put out their first full-length album which is set to be released on October 2nd, 2020.
The self-proclaimed “profit conscious musical duo” wants to make sure even committed music fans can buy space on the record so they set the price at $4.99. The proceeds from your advertising contribution will help with advertising, marketing, and touring expenses. Part of proceeds will go to a non-profit important to them, MusiCares. The album covers consumerism, the power of big business, isolation, worry, mental illness, and more.
Non-Profit
MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music artists in times of need either financially or mentally. MusiCares’ services and resources cover a wide range of financial, medical, and personal emergencies. They treat each case with integrity and confidentiality. The non-profit also focuses the resources and attention of the music industry on human service. Their focus is on issues that directly influence the health and welfare of the music community.
The album art will be live on Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal, Pandora, and Youtube Music, among other music marketplaces. We are watching closely to see if this will be a solid avenue for artists. COVID is hitting the music industry professionals hard during the pandemic. “Our new initiative introduces a novel form of monetization, especially at a time when Coronavirus has dealt a heavy blow on traditional revenue streams for musicians,” OYLS said. “Most importantly, this helps raise money and awareness for an important cause: MusiCares, a foundation that supports struggling musicians suffering from mental issues and substance abuse.”
