Refuge NYC is closing out its first year in business the way it opened — with a marathon session on the decks. The Brooklyn club has announced a 72-hour non-stop party running from September 25th through 27th, serving as the finale to a month-long anniversary season that has brought in dance music fans from over 1,300 cities across 73 countries during the venue’s debut year.
The lineup for the finale weekend includes a 12-hour open-to-close set from Deep Dish, plus club residents Ragie Ban, John DiMatteo, and Shorty, a sunrise performance from Victor Calderone, and a closing set from Brothers Macklovitch — the DJ project from A-Trak and Dave 1 of Chromeo.
Refuge was founded by promoter John DiMatteo and sound engineer Craig “Shorty” Bernabeu, and the 500-capacity room in East Williamsburg/Bushwick has built a reputation for going against the grain of modern nightlife. There is no VIP section, no bottle service, and the entire operation is built around sound quality rather than table sales.
The venue draws its blueprint from rooms like Paradise Garage, The Sound Factory, and Space Ibiza — spaces known for marathon sets and crowds that stuck around for the music rather than the scene. Refuge’s sound system is a custom four-point REX analogue rig, built in collaboration with acoustic engineer Al Fierstein.
Before the 72-hour finale gets underway, Refuge still has a handful of dates left on its anniversary calendar, including stops from Two Shell, Chris Liebing, and Ahadadream. The finale weekend itself will spread across both the main room and the club’s newly built outdoor courtyard, covering day parties, sunrise sets, and deep afterhours programming.
Deep Dish opens the weekend on Friday, September 25th with their marathon set. Saturday, September 26th belongs to DiMatteo and Shorty alongside Ragie Ban and some still-unannounced guests. Victor Calderone, a New York techno mainstay and Refuge resident, takes the sunrise slot on Sunday morning before Brothers Macklovitch close out the celebration Sunday night.
New SoundCloud Channel Launches With Troxler and Calderone B2B
Alongside the anniversary festivities, Refuge has also launched its own SoundCloud channel dedicated to archiving live sets recorded at the club. The channel kicks off with a previously unannounced seven-hour back-to-back session between Seth Troxler and Victor Calderone, recorded during a late-night afterhours set at the venue.
