Canadian electronic duo Sultan + Shepard have made a triumphant return to This Never Happened, the prestigious label helmed by Lane 8. This latest offering sees the duo teaming up with the alt-synth pop band Prinze George for a reimagining of their 2021 track, ‘Centuries‘. The result is a masterclass in melodic and progressive house, favoring a refined, atmospheric approach over maximalist production.

A Masterpiece of Melodic House

The track opens with soft, lower frequencies that establish a sense of liminal bliss. Naomi Almquist’s vocals drift through the mix, carrying an eerie, melancholic weight that anchors the production. Despite the minimalist lyrical content—centered on the poignant line, “Sometimes I worry that our love is killing me“—the song avoids any sense of repetition, instead building a hypnotic, immersive soundscape. Sultan + Shepard’s production expertise shines here, seamlessly blending the distinct synth-pop sensibilities of Prinze George with their own signature melodic house aesthetic. According to the duo, the collaboration was born from a bootleg version they created, which caught the attention of Lane 8, who encouraged them to pursue an official release.

The release is accompanied by a music video featuring the members of Prinze George, further cementing the artistic synergy between the two acts. ‘Centuries’ arrives as a significant milestone for both parties; it follows Sultan + Shepard’s recent collaboration ‘Twilight’ with Shallou, and their 2026 single ‘Disappear’ featuring Lane 8 and sadHAPPY. For Prinze George, this marks their first release of 2026, building on the momentum of their Soft Light EP.

Touring and Future Endeavors

Fans looking to experience the duo’s sound in a live setting have plenty of opportunities this weekend. Sultan + Shepard are set to perform in California, including a highly anticipated appearance at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco. Their weekend will culminate in a special performance in San Diego alongside Lane 8, serving as part of the ongoing THN10 Tour, which celebrates a decade of the This Never Happened label.
