Brooklyn-based tech-house producer Westend is back with a new single, ‘Feels Better‘, out today via his own imprint Trace Amounts.
Following his Experts Only cut ‘The Ceiling’, Westend keeps the momentum going with a driving house track that draws directly from New York City’s summer energy. The record was written during the Knicks’ playoff run — and you can feel it. Electrifying synth work and a hooky vocal push the track forward from the first beat, channeling that collective city buzz into something built for peak-hour festival sets.
Westend speaks to the inspiration directly:
I made ‘Feels Better’ in the middle of the Knicks championship run, when you could feel the whole city floating. That joy was everywhere, on the trains, in the bodegas, on the courts, and I wanted a record that carried it. I leaned into that classic chopped sample sound I grew up on, the Daft Punk filter house stuff, and chased the most feel good version of it I could. It’s built to hit at shows and feel like summer in New York.

The release also marks another chapter for Trace Amounts, the label Westend launched in 2023 as a home for his own releases and curatorial work. It’s been a focused operation — rooted in groove, club sensibility, and his own forward-moving take on house music.
A Standout Year for Westend
Since coming up in 2016, the native New Yorker has built a catalog that spans collaborations with John Summit, HUGEL, ACRAZE, and SIDEPIECE, with releases on Toolroom, Catch & Release, Solotoko, Dirtybird, and others. Outside his own music, he’s put time into developing emerging artists through Kick & Bass.
‘Feels Better’ drops in the middle of a strong run of dates for Westend — he’s already played Day Trip and Electric Forest this year, and his Lollapalooza debut is coming up next month. The full tour schedule runs through October.
