EDMTunes spent the weekend at North Coast Music Festival 2026 in Illinois, soaking in the best of the industry’s bass, techno, and house offerings. Following a standout performance at the Shipyard stage, the hyperpop and hard dance icon Zorza sat down with us to discuss her artistic evolution, the upcoming release of her debut album, Internet Niche Fame, and the unique connection she shares with her fanbase.
Internet Niche Fame is set to release on October 30th, with the second single, ‘motion sick,’ already available via Zorza’s 4ever label. Reflecting on her return to Chicago, Zorza noted the shift in her performance environment compared to her previous appearance at the festival’s Chill Dome. “It feels really good to be playing back and see a lot of repeat fans,” she shared, emphasizing the importance of recognizing familiar faces in the crowd.
The Vision Behind ‘Internet Niche Fame’
The title of her debut album, Internet Niche Fame, serves as a reflection on her journey as an artist. Zorza explained that the project explores how digital communities have allowed her to tour globally and connect with listeners in ways that were previously impossible. “I wanted the album cover to reflect that chaotic nature, and my attempt to break through that chaos and find my own path in it,” she said, noting that the intentionally cluttered cover art mirrors the overwhelming nature of the internet.
The album represents a departure from her previous focus on the hard techno scene. While she remains committed to high-energy, fast-paced music, she is embracing a broader sonic palette. “I’m haunted by the idea that I want to do something different,” she admitted. The record incorporates elements of trap and witch house, blending her signature speed with new emotional depths.
Authenticity and Future Projects
Zorza’s creative process has been defined by a desire to avoid stagnation. By stepping back from the relentless touring cycle, she was able to refocus on what she truly loves about music. “I realized I wasn’t fully making stuff that I wanted to make, but rather what I thought other people might want to hear,” she explained. This newfound clarity has resulted in her most authentic work to date.
Looking ahead, Zorza is eager to expand the reach of her label, 4ever. While she has enjoyed hosting shows in cities like Toronto and Los Angeles, her current focus is on the music itself. “We have our first releases from artists other than myself coming up very soon,” she said. With several projects lined up for the remainder of the year, Zorza is poised to continue her ascent, proving that niche fame can indeed have a massive impact.
