• Seven Lions-style progressions with a sweet vocal twist
• First half with Prog House influences
• Second half dives into deeper Dubstep territory
The melody in this collaboration really struck a chord with me.
9 Worlds and 3THOS, both from Canada, delivered something that feels instantly familiar yet still fresh. Think Seven Lions-style progressions, paired with a Progressive Trance breakdown right at the center. “Dreaming” feels already a winning formula, and then add a fantastic vocal from okafuwa on top of that. The result speaks for itself.
Right from the intro, the vocal is the anchor. It floats above the instrumental, carrying a dreamy vibe while tension builds underneath. I was expecting something closer to Tritonal at first, especially with that polished buildup, but the drop hit differently: pure melodic dubstep. It’s soft and heavy at the same time, with the vocal weaving through the chords in such a natural way. That first interaction hooked me right away.
What makes “Dreaming” even better is how it evolves in the second half. The vocal still does a terrific job of leading the atmosphere, but this time the instrumental takes a darker route. The pre-drop layers in subtle growls that hint at more power, and then the final drop slows down into a heavier, bass-driven section. It’s short, sharp, and leaves a lasting mark before fading out.
I like how the track knows its strengths. The vocal is clearly the weapon here, but instead of oversaturating, it’s placed in just the right spots to maximize impact. The mix between the melodic highs and the Dubstep edge keeps things engaging from start to finish.
“Dreaming” is a solid collab that proves both producers can pull off something sweet yet powerful. It doesn’t try to reinvent the genre, but it definitely surprised me in all the right ways.
