Heaviness marked the early end of the Hungarian Psychedelic Music Festival OZORA this weekend. The organizers expressed deep sadness on their official social media accounts, explaining that two separate tragedies took place on Saturday. The incidents occurred during the 12-day-long psychedelic gathering in Dadpuszta, Hungary, which began on July 24th and was originally scheduled to conclude on August 4th. The festival, known for its diverse programming—ranging from Psytrance and Psytechno to ambient and experimental soundscapes—was also contending with severe heatwave conditions.
Tragic Incidents and Festival Response
OZORA organizers confirmed that two festivalgoers lost their lives during the event on Saturday, August 1st. A 39-year-old female victim suffered a cardiac arrest; despite the rapid response of the on-site emergency medical team, they were unable to revive her. Reports suggest that the extreme heat conditions may have been a contributing factor in this medical emergency. In a separate incident, a 45-year-old male died after climbing a decorative structure. Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the second death, as festival officials have indicated there may have been suicidal intent.
In light of these events, the festival made the difficult decision to conclude all musical programming at midnight today, effectively cutting the event short by two days. Organizers have urged all remaining attendees to prioritize their health and safety, particularly as Hungary continues to operate under a high-temperature heat alert.
