ORIGIN Los Angeles has officially announced its grand opening weekend, scheduled for October 9 and 10. The highly anticipated debut features a stellar lineup including MRAK, Malive, Liva K, and Kölsch, marking the arrival of a permanent, purpose-built venue in the heart of Downtown LA’s Arts District. This launch represents a significant shift for the local scene, moving away from temporary pop-ups toward a dedicated, state-of-the-art home for electronic music.
The festivities kick off on Friday, October 9, with a headline performance by MRAK, the solo project of Carmine Conte. As one half of the renowned duo Tale Of Us and a co-founder of Afterlife, Conte’s appearance sets a high bar for the venue’s programming. The following day, Saturday, October 10, offers a dual experience: a daytime outdoor session featuring Brazil’s Malive and Greece’s Liva K, followed by an immersive nighttime club set from German techno icon Kölsch. Pre-sale registration is currently live, with general tickets available through the official venue website.
A New Concept for LA Nightlife
Located at 613 Imperial Street, the venue occupies an industrial space that has long been a staple of the Arts District. However, the site has been completely reimagined as a fully realized, indoor/outdoor concept. The design encourages fluid movement, allowing guests to transition seamlessly between an intimate indoor music room and a sprawling outdoor patio. The programming strategy is equally dynamic, with Fridays dedicated to live performances and top-tier indie electronic acts, while Saturdays will oscillate between vibrant daytime parties and late-night house and techno sessions.
The project is spearheaded by industry veterans Roni Mehrabian and Cyril Bitar, the creative forces behind established brands such as SBCLTR and Minimal Effort. With a portfolio that includes major events like LABRYINTO, Brunch Electronik, and The Maze, the duo is leveraging over two decades of experience to transition from event production to permanent venue ownership.
Infrastructure and Design
Beyond the opening weekend, ORIGIN will serve as the new anchor for quarterly Arts District events, including the 2026 edition of THE MAZE. This year’s Halloween block party promises to be the largest to date, featuring a lineup that includes The Blaze, a special DJ set from Win Butler and Paul Beaubrun, and Claude VonStroke.
The venue’s technical specifications were curated by architect Marc Dizon, whose resume includes iconic spaces like Brooklyn Mirage, Output, and Sound. The room is powered by a custom analog KV2 Audio system, engineered to provide precise sound distribution across both the dance floor and mezzanine levels. The outdoor area features its own dedicated rig, designed to maintain high-fidelity audio while respecting the surrounding neighborhood.
With a brand identity crafted by the Super Evil Genius Group—the agency behind John Summit’s Experts Only and various Wynn Nightlife residencies—ORIGIN is positioning itself as essential infrastructure for the city’s dance music community. By combining world-class sound design with a versatile layout, the venue aims to provide a consistent, high-quality experience that elevates the standard for Los Angeles nightlife.
